Suite 12 - Back to School
Who: Teddy, Pietro, Sam, Daken
Where: Suite 12
When: The day after the mixer
Rating:PG-13 for boys being... well, teenage boys
Summary: It's back to school time! Time to meet those roomies again.
Teddy flopped on his bed the moment he finished unpacking. Damn, he missed this place. He didn't realize just how much until mid July. That's when the summer was starting to become unbearable and he was itching to just get back here. No one asked him questions, no one held anything over his head or told him he was an alien freak. He was around others just like him and that made such a difference that a weight felt as though it was lifted off of his shoulders.
He stared up at the ceiling for a minute, happy to see that his glow in the dark stars had made it through a summer of re-painting the dorms, before he stood up and walked into the common area. He sat down on the couch and fiddled with the tv, waiting to see which one of his roommates would show up first. Whoever it was, he was sure to lend a helping hand.

He sat down on the couch and fiddled with the tv, waiting to see which one of his roommates would show up first. Whoever it was, he was sure to lend a helping hand.

He paused by the door, which was open a crack and studied the sign on the door. This was the correct number, but that wasn't his name. Just because his father disapproved of the name he'd chosen for himself didn't mean it had to be on the door. He reached up and pulled down the piece of paper that had 'Akihiro' printed across it and crumbled it up, throwing the wadded up ball down the hallway before pushing the door open.
He sized up the other student already in the room, which had to be either Sam, Pietro, or Teddy according to the door.
"I'm Daken," He offered politely, glancing at the beds, "Are any of the others taken?"
no subject
"Hi, Daken. I'm Teddy. The others aren't here yet but I'll show you the vacant room. Do you need any help with your things?"
no subject
Teddy. The boy didn't smell human, which immediately piqued his interest. His scent wasn't like anything he'd come across yet, which was even more intriguing. Not that he'd admit to any of this out loud, or actually bring it up to Teddy.
"I've got everything. Thank you," He was polite enough. Quiet, but polite, and dutifully followed Teddy into the vacant room. Once inside, he set his small duffle bag down, which seemed to weigh nearly nothing. It appeared to be all he had with him.

"You can decorate the room however you like," Teddy said, following Daken into his room. "There's a list of things you can and can't post on the desk. When the other guys show up we can agree on some house rules. It's not the Hilton but, hey, we'll leave the lights on. It'll feel like home soon enough."
no subject
"Thank you. Will come get me when we are to agree on the rules?" He asked, turning to sit on the bed, testing it out. "Which dormitory is the Hilton?"
And what about that dorm made it better than their's, if that's what Teddy was implying? Furthermore, he looked equally confused about the concept of home, but didn't question it.

"The others will be here soon. If you have any questions you can ask me. This is my third year here. I've pretty much found my sea legs. If you want, I could give you a tour. Do you play any sports?"
no subject
"A tour? Of the campus? I don't think that will be necessary," He dug one of the Academy brochures out of his pocket, complete with a rudimentary map on the back.
"I don't 'play' any sports, no. I've been told I can do mixed martial arts and other kinds of fighting here, though," He swished his lips to the side in contemplation, "I'll probably just continue my training.
Can you fight? Or do you play a sport?"
His tone was ever so slightly condescending, but, in reality, he just didn't see any point, besides exercise, in playing games when you could be learning useful skills.
no subject
He didn't mind the tone. Daken was a new student in a strange place. It was normal to be a bit standoffish until you really got to know someone. Teddy knew all about that. It wasn't long ago he was a new kid trying to find his place.
"I play football here," Teddy said with a smile. "And I attend the training sessions. They assign them according to your different skill sets. Training is fun but I like playing sports. It's almost like being a superhero for an hour or two."
no subject
He pushed the door open slightly and stuck his head around it, smiling.
"Hey. Anyone here yet?"
no subject
Teddy walked over to the front door and held his hand out. "I saw your name on the roster when I came in this morning. I'm glad we're rooming together."
He knew Sam from last year. He was a good guy, someone he was sure he was going to get along with.
"Do you need any help with your things?"
no subject
He pushed the door to his room open slowly before stepping out into the main room wordlessly. Without announcing himself, he stood in the doorway, watching the newcomer.
If he didn't notice him, well, that would just be that.
no subject
His arrival to the room might have been mistaken for a sudden draft, the door blowing open, and a hefty breeze trailing in behind him, as he zipped to a room, and quickly unpacked. A place for everything and everything in it's place. Moments later, he strolled out into the common room to see (a) if anyone was here, and (b) if they were going to be at all worth his time.
no subject
"Um, hi," Teddy said, putting a smile on his face. "I'm Teddy. Weird, I didn't see you come in. How long have you been here?"
no subject
no subject
"Yeah, that's me," Teddy said, only hesitating a moment before he walked over and offered his hand. "I'm one of the old timers, though. This is my third year at the academy. If you need any help unpacking or bringing your things in just let me know."

He put his hand down and continued to smile, standing his ground at the way Pietro sized him up. Teddy might be kind but he didn't roll over. "Nice to meet you. So, I'm going to take a wild guess that if you were able to set up in a split second you must have speed as your power."

"I'm a bit stronger than most," he said with a shrug before putting the couch back down. "Among other things but I like to keep an air of mystery. Don't want everyone to know my cards in case they might discover my weakness."
no subject
Though now he was curious about what 'other things' might be. Was Teddy lying, to make himself seem more powerful? If not, what were his other powers. Why would he keep them secret.
Pietro loved a good mystery. They gave him something to think about in the indeterminately long, boring stretches of time.
"It's my first year here, and I've gotta say-- you're the least boring person I've met so far. Do we have other roommates, yet?"
no subject
Teddy motioned to the other two rooms off to the side. "Sam and Daken are around. I'm sure you'll meet them soon enough. They're nice guys. I think you'll find them both less boring than I am."

"Well, smart guy, since you're already unpacked why not play a round or two? I promise to be gentle. It is your first day, after all."

There was a touch of sadness in his voice but it was easily brushed away as Teddy walked over to the television, pulling out the game console. "Only the best selection. Halo, Call of Duty, Team Fortress - what are you feeling?"
no subject
"Which ever one you're best at, I've never played any of them."

"So confident," Teddy smirked. "If it's a challenge you want, a challenge you'll get, my friend. How about a little Halo? You look like a FPS kind of guy."
Teddy sat down and set up the game console, handing one of the controllers to Pietro. "The joystick moves your guy on screen," he instructed. "The buttons control when to fire and to swap between weapons. It takes a bit of coordination but you'll pick it up pretty fast."
