SHIELD Academy
Open House
Everyone is congregated in the spacious auditorium of the SHIELD Academy. The noise level is probably a decibel below deafening and the lights are probably a little dimmer than what might seem normal for this time in the evening, but it doesn't seem to bother anyone as they just carry on. There are banners strewn about welcoming all first years to a new chapter in their lives while others welcome the others back for another year at the Academy. Refreshments are served up on stage while other tables set up around the massive room are home to pamphlets and flyers for clubs and classes. Special electives and advertisements for training sessions are also littered amongst the tables.

Make a few friends, find old ones, look into clubs that catch your interest. This is open house for all returning students and prospective students, so hang out, hit up others and just mingle!

"Hi. I know who you are, I heard you greet the last seven people."

*Maya doesn't look up when she greets the far too energetic First Year. Her lips don't move either. She's sitting on the music Club table wishing the noise would at least work in some manageable pattern. She's fine with loud concerts, the noise isn't quite so chaotic there. This was what she figured a warzone sounded like.*

"Oh, um... Cool."

She scans the table before looking her over.

"So, music club. Is this more of a 'let's get together and listen to music' or is there actual music playing? Also is there a piano here?"

"Playing, mostly, but we listen for ideas of what to do. The music room has a keyboard, not a real piano."

Maya's voice is almost coming from her direction, but not exactly accurate, like she's speaking a bit to the left of herself. Until she actually opens her mouth to talk, "I'm Maya, second year and I kinda keep all the instruments tuned. Best ears for it. It is nice to meet you Darcy." Ears that can't be seen with her headphones on.

"That's cool. I, uh, I play piano so it'd be nice to be able to keep that up."

She smiles, adjusting the bag on her shoulder slightly.

"Nice to meet you too. So, do you play as well or just keep things tuned?"

"I play cello, guitar, bass, double bass even if I look silly doing it, piano, a little violin. And I can keep a basic tempo on the drums, but nothing fancy." To say Maya was an overachiever was putting it mildly. She seemed almost bored listing off all her skills.

"Oh, right, I also sing. Music is kinda a big deal for me." Understatement of the year.

"That's, uh, that's really cool."

Darcy shifts uncomfortably. She knows she's not really anything special compared to a lot of the people here, but she hadn't been quite ready for this.

"Well, I'll just take a flyer and maybe check it out sometime." Or just use the piano when no one else was around.

"Sure. That's cool."

Maya felt like she may have done something wrong, cause Darcy looked a bit more nervous about things now. But... what could she do? She handed Darcy a flier and watched to see what Darcy did next.

"Ok, thanks so much."

She gives her a smile, stuffing the flyer in her bag. She does her best to push aside her own insecurities, running a hand through her hair.

"I'll see you around, Maya."
