[Mingle-Log] Only non-alcoholic beverages in the punch bowl...

[This is an open mingle log. You do not have to be part of the community to post in this thread. Consider it a test-drive of sorts to get your voice or meet new characters!]

SHIELD Academy
Open House
Everyone is congregated in the spacious auditorium of the SHIELD Academy. The noise level is probably a decibel below deafening and the lights are probably a little dimmer than what might seem normal for this time in the evening, but it doesn't seem to bother anyone as they just carry on. There are banners strewn about welcoming all first years to a new chapter in their lives while others welcome the others back for another year at the Academy. Refreshments are served up on stage while other tables set up around the massive room are home to pamphlets and flyers for clubs and classes. Special electives and advertisements for training sessions are also littered amongst the tables.

Make a few friends, find old ones, look into clubs that catch your interest. This is open house for all returning students and prospective students, so hang out, hit up others and just mingle!

[And there's that cat that swallowed the canary look as he whirls on Billy, tucking the bottle behind his back and shrugging lightly.] Think about what? Oh, have you been working on mind-reading skills while we've been on break?

[He tries to play innocent, but he's Loki... Innocent is a thing that just... doesn't happen with him.]

[Billy rolls his eyes, but he's amused.] The sad thing is I don't actually need to be a mind reader to know exactly what you're up to. [And that's why he's been on the unofficial watch Loki committee since their second year. Really he didn't sign up for this job, since there were definitely times he only encouraged his friend. ] Please don't get the fourteen year olds drunk, save it for the third and fourth years.

[Funny how Billy is his conscience and he actually openly recognises this without issue. He lets his arms drop to his sides, holding the bottle by the cap before flipping it up and catching it by the neck. He then holds it out to Billy.] You have a certain third year in mind? Hmm?

[He wiggles the bottle back and forth, sloshing the liquid, enticing Billy to take it.] I'll concede to your terms. But that merely means you owe me a party since you crashed mine.

[Billy rolls his eyes and grabs the bottle from his friend. Loki knows exactly who he has in mind. ] I'm not going to encourage anyone to get drunk. [Excpet maybe himself? ]

You mean like the after party I know you've already planned in our rooms?

Glad to see we're on the same page. [Loki's grin was devilish, but he shrugged when the bottle was grabbed, letting his hands fall back to his sides.]

And by all means, don't forget to invite your Teddybear. [He winked playfully.] And if you need a little private time, I picked up a nice little 'silence' spell to isolate your room, if you catch my drift.

[Billy was blushing, he could feel it.] Shut up, I haven't even seen him yet. And it was a long summer, I might not even need that.

[He wasn't unscrewing the top of the bottle and taking a swig. Loki was clearly imagining him doing that.]

[Loki looks him over for a moment and sighs. With a snap of his fingers, no one else would notice Billy taking a swig either. As a matter of fact, they were probably both seemingly 'gone' from existence with the illusion. Yeah, he'd probably get yelled at later for using magic 'without permission' but really, the detention hall was the only place that was spelled against powers.]

Hey, did something happen? [Because if he had to threaten a blonde jock, he could do that. Not that he'd tell Billy that.]

[OOC: Ignore the scene that icon is from. I use it for the expression.]

[Billy raises an eyebrow at his friend when he blinks them out of existence, so to speak. It makes him quirk a smile that his friend would risk getting in trouble to see if he was ok.] Been practicing?

[Ok, so he knows he's not going to get away with a subject change, not with Loki so he just shrugs and takes another drink, handing the bottle back to his friend afterwards.] Nothing happened per-say, but we got together what, a day before summer vacation, we kissed once and then it was letters all summer. Which was great, but he started to act weird in his letter and I don't know, maybe he's changed his mind.

[Loki just deadpans at the attempted subject change.] I have. [But no, he is not letting Billy get away with a subject change. However, Billy continues before Loki has to press the subject.]

Acting weird? The kid is a little weird, but then again, so are we. I don't think there's a normal teenager in this school. [Yep. Sounds like he has a jock to threaten.]

[Billy rolls his eyes. ] No, not normal weird,,actually,weird, like he doesn't want to talk. [He shrugs, because it's probably nothing but he didn't spend a whole year pining for Teddy to have a relationship that only consisted of letters. No matter how adorable Billy thought that was over the summer.] It's probably nothing. Really.

[Loki chews the corner of his lip for a moment, in thought. He was processing all of this and trying to come up with an answer for what little information he had been given. Vague. But Billy was worried, so he was scheming.]

Yes, more than likely, it's nothing. [Or, it would seem that way after he 'spoke' with Teddy. Loki did take the bottle that had been handed to him, then. He eyes the liquid and breaks the cold expression that had gradually drifted over his features with a light smirk and held it back out to Billy.] I believe you need it more than I do right now.

[Billy shook his head, not taking the bottle, and not missing the look in Loki's eyes.] Nah, I'll only wind up making a fool out of myself or something, besides I have to make it to the after party, so you and Tommy don't trash the place. Don't- don't do anything stupid, Loki. It probably is just my imagination.

Come now, Kaplan. I'm an angel. I'd never trash the place. But I don't have super-speed like Shepherd, so I can't promise he won't trash the place. [He shrugs, but he agrees to absolutely nothing and hopes Billy doesn't notice.]

Probably is. So you probably shouldn't worry about it, because I know you. You worry about everything. [Loki knocks back the bottle for a sip of the clear fire-water.]

I have to worry about everything, I'm friends with you. [A smirk, turns into a smile and he nudges him.] Come on, bring us back to the party. If you behave I'll let you get me drunk later.

Fair enough. [Loki grins and even dares a light chuckle.] As you wish. Do you want to see something else I've learned over the summer, out of boredom?

[It takes him some concentration and he sets the bottle down on the table, running his hands around it and muttering a word in another language, the bottle flashes out existence.] That one wasn't an illusion. ...I just hope it landed where I sent it. [If he was going to get in trouble for using one spell, might as well show off and use another. In for a penny, in for a pound. And another snap of his fingers and they were released from the privacy of his illusion.]

You are gonna teach me that, right? [He grins,genuinely this time. It is good to be back at school, even if it's a little bittersweet to think it's their last year here.]

If I can pry you away from everyone else long enough to teach you. [He grinned playfully.]

I can show you all the tricks I've learned over the summer. The Gods know you pick up my tricks quicker than I did--which is a little insulting to my pride, mind you.

I'm all yours. [He nudges him playfully. And really it's true, Billy might have a lot of friends but there was a very small list of who came first and Loki and Tommy were generally tied at the top of it.]

I would say it's because I have a good teacher but then your ego would swell to epic proportions.

Oh? I wasn't aware my ego could swell any worse. [He laughed, nudging Billy back.] In that case, Magic study-group over the weekend sound good?

Trust me, it can. [So much smirking.] Definitely study session this weekend. I've missed those. It's not the same practicing alone.

And you're the resident expert on Loki of Asgard. [He shrugged lightly, because well... it was kind of true, actually.] You're right, it's not. Then it's a date! [He teased with a wink. Yep, never gonna live down that people thought they were dating.] A study date.

Of course I am. [Billy smiled and rolled his eyes. Loki was incorrigible and really he should be used to that.] Does that mean I should dress nice for you?

Are we that far along in our relationship that you no longer feel the need to get 'gussied up' for me? [That's followed by a dramatic sigh and roll of his eyes, as if he's hurt by the thought that it no longer matters. He's not. And Billy should know by now he's still just playing. Shortly thereafter, the smirk reappears.] So, which of us gets the flowers?

Who said anything about flowers? If you are taking me in a study date I demand chocolate. [Billy smirked at his friend. Of course he was joking, even if he'd never say no to candy.]

[Loki scoffs with an exasperated huff.] You're so high-maintenance. Chocolate it is. [He's so bringing you chocolate, Billy. In a frilly, heart-shaped box too. Just for that.]
