SHIELD Academy
Open House
Everyone is congregated in the spacious auditorium of the SHIELD Academy. The noise level is probably a decibel below deafening and the lights are probably a little dimmer than what might seem normal for this time in the evening, but it doesn't seem to bother anyone as they just carry on. There are banners strewn about welcoming all first years to a new chapter in their lives while others welcome the others back for another year at the Academy. Refreshments are served up on stage while other tables set up around the massive room are home to pamphlets and flyers for clubs and classes. Special electives and advertisements for training sessions are also littered amongst the tables.

Make a few friends, find old ones, look into clubs that catch your interest. This is open house for all returning students and prospective students, so hang out, hit up others and just mingle!

They look so alike that this could be a recreation of the Parent Trap. Like literally. Like they come from different sides of the country and are pretty different personality wise and it weren't for the fact that they're both pretty sure they don't share the same birthday or parents, things could be getting pretty freaky up in here.

It still kind of is, you know freaky, it always makes MJ stop for a moment when she sees the other ginger. Or maybe that's the flyer shoved under her nose.

"Do I honestly look like a mathlete to you?"

There can be only one answer to this question as Lydia grins.

"Do you honestly think that the only answer I can give is yes?"

She tilts her head this way and that. It is in fact seriously freaky.

MJ rolls her eyes (freaky freaky freaky, does everyone have a literal twin or are they just lucky) and offers the flyer back.

"I hate math so. Probably not going to happen."

Lydia plucks the flyer out of MJ's fingers, keeping a tight smile on her face in order to help hide how unnerved she is. It's actually more freaky than when she goes into one of her walking fugues and ends up finding a dead body.

"No big deal." she says in a casual tone. "There's lots to choose from."

What she really wants to do is grill the other girl about her background and see if they're surprise cousins or something. Not that she thinks Mary Jane will volunteer a blood sample.

"I'm Lydia. Lydia Martin. We should sit down sometime and maybe try to figure this," she makes a vague gesture between them, "Out."

God help you, Lydia, if you are some distant cousin of hers because her family is a hot mess and it's not pretty there.

"MJ-- Mary Jane Watson." She tips her head slightly and frowns. "What's there to figure out?"

"Honey, have you looked in a mirror?" Lydia whips out a compact, popping it open and holding it up so she flashes it on her face and then on MJ's. "This."

mj is so hallie and lydia is annie in this parent trap metaphor

Oh gee thanks, for showing her what a mirror is. That's real helpful, Lydia.

"To be honest. My hair's clearly better. And your nose is kind of crooked."

Lydia stares at MJ. "Wow, rude. I'll mark that off as you being freaked out and not just being a bitch." Shaking her head, she clasps the compact shut and drops it back into her handbag. She's not going to argue about who's prettier because the answer's obvious (SHE IS).

She shrugs. "You decide you do actually want to figure out what the hell's going on instead of pretending like doppelgangers happen every day, you know were to find me."
