Open House
Everyone is congregated in the spacious auditorium of the SHIELD Academy. The noise level is probably a decibel below deafening and the lights are probably a little dimmer than what might seem normal for this time in the evening, but it doesn't seem to bother anyone as they just carry on. There are banners strewn about welcoming all first years to a new chapter in their lives while others welcome the others back for another year at the Academy. Refreshments are served up on stage while other tables set up around the massive room are home to pamphlets and flyers for clubs and classes. Special electives and advertisements for training sessions are also littered amongst the tables.
Make a few friends, find old ones, look into clubs that catch your interest. This is open house for all returning students and prospective students, so hang out, hit up others and just mingle!

Including that tussled hair book reader. School hadn't even really started for the year yet but that would never stop Myka, although considering how much Helena tried to pull her out of her books maybe she was better getting a head start )
Now aren't you a sight for sore eyes.
( Helena didn't know exactly what it was that Myka was reading but it wasn't anything that you would call light - not even for a literature lover like Helena. It was very hefty for her first day )
I know where you've been already.
( Does she at least get a smile, and the possibility of conversation without the book open? You know you've missed her really, even if she does mercilessly tease )

I should have set up a Book Club booth. [ Right, like Myka would ever start her own club. Or run her own booth. ] I put in an special order for the book last year and I've been dying to read it all summer. I was excited, okay?

( Myka could discuss books but often a little more in depth than what a regular book club would go for. Helena loved hearing all of the detail, and the meanings and often threw some of her own back, but that wasn't everyone )
I'm surprised that you didn't rush it so you could read it over summer.
( For that much longing it had to be something good )
Which leaves the question of what you actually did instead.

Dad just had me working in the bookstore. He had a bunch of new stock come in so I, uh. I alphabetized it.
[ Shut up, Helena. ]
