SHIELD Academy
Open House
Everyone is congregated in the spacious auditorium of the SHIELD Academy. The noise level is probably a decibel below deafening and the lights are probably a little dimmer than what might seem normal for this time in the evening, but it doesn't seem to bother anyone as they just carry on. There are banners strewn about welcoming all first years to a new chapter in their lives while others welcome the others back for another year at the Academy. Refreshments are served up on stage while other tables set up around the massive room are home to pamphlets and flyers for clubs and classes. Special electives and advertisements for training sessions are also littered amongst the tables.

Make a few friends, find old ones, look into clubs that catch your interest. This is open house for all returning students and prospective students, so hang out, hit up others and just mingle!

"Thanks!" Allison says brightly in response, turning a dimpled grin onto Kate, hugging the clipboard and papers to her chest. Missing her family was always rough but diving into school and activities helps, which is why she's so prepared today.

"I don't see why they wouldn't," she continues honestly, shrugging a shoulder. "Just because it isn't your chosen weapon doesn't mean you can't learn how to do it for fun. Maybe we can even do competition."

"And it might even prove to be useful at some point, anyway," Kate muses, finishing the pamphlet quickly before folding it up and putting it in her pocket. For Kate, it would at least give her something to learn other than hand-to-hand combat.

"Well, where do I sign up?"

Proudly, Allison turns the clipboard around in her arms and unclicks the pen for her. There are several signatures already but there's still some work to do. Even if only a percentage of the people actually show up, she'll be pleased to have actually started something in school. (Though if everyone showed up, she would be elated.)

Allison's ahead of the curve when it comes to combat and weaponry, but she's really happy to actually find a place for herself in here after moving around so much. Archery club is almost a normal teenage thing.

Taking the clipboard and pen, Kate signs her name quickly and hands it back to her with a smile. It's definitely not a normal school, definitely not the type of school Kate would have typically ended up in if she had stayed in New York, but that was exactly the reason why she ended up there.

"If you need help with anything just let me know," Kate offers. "I can be pretty persuasive."

Ah, there's an idea. "Well."

Allison procures another empty sign up sheet another pen from her back pocket, handing it to Kate happily. "No pressure, but here's another sign up sheet if you happen to meet anyone who just wants to have some fun with arrows."

Nabbing the sheet out of her hand, Kate also grabbed the pen and clicked it with a grin, clutching each of the items in her hand.

"Like anyone at Superhero School is going to turn down shooting sharpened projectiles at targets. I'll go hit up my roomies."

"You'd be surprised!" she giggles, lightly covering her mouth with the tips of her fingers.

"It's a matter of preference and fighting style. Some people don't want to be out of their element." Allison being one of them. "But I hope this kind of dismantles those worries about looking stupid in front of other people."

Kate grins at her, shrugging happily as she clutches the clipboard in one hand. "Like I said - persuasive. I'm looking forward to getting good at a new element." It's not like she had any special powers, so Kate was learning to work with what she had. "Have you been doing archery for a while?"
