SHIELD Academy
Open House
Everyone is congregated in the spacious auditorium of the SHIELD Academy. The noise level is probably a decibel below deafening and the lights are probably a little dimmer than what might seem normal for this time in the evening, but it doesn't seem to bother anyone as they just carry on. There are banners strewn about welcoming all first years to a new chapter in their lives while others welcome the others back for another year at the Academy. Refreshments are served up on stage while other tables set up around the massive room are home to pamphlets and flyers for clubs and classes. Special electives and advertisements for training sessions are also littered amongst the tables.

Make a few friends, find old ones, look into clubs that catch your interest. This is open house for all returning students and prospective students, so hang out, hit up others and just mingle!

Bobbi is, first and foremost, a scientist a heart, an ace student, and an excellent researcher for someone so young. (Not to mention a competitive gymnast.) When it was time for her the other year to finally make a decision on her future, she chose the academy over the science high school, deciding to find a customized balance between academics and training.

Home is home. She remains distant from her family, her brother, and is honestly happy to be back at school.

Bobbi is, as always, a mix between nice and intimidating, slowly making rounds about the room.

"Heya, Bobbi! Glad to be back?"

Natasha bumps into the other girl not far from the snack table. She doesn't know her really well, but they do share gymnastics together and it's enough of a link that Tasha doesn't mind welcoming her back.

Then again, Natasha spent most of the summer on her own or with her dad, so she's just glad to be getting her social life back.

"Totally," she replies after helping herself to a cookie. "After a certain point, you start hating the lull of summer and are itching to get back to work. That could just be me, though. That could also be anyone if they ever vacationed with my family."

After a grimace, Bobbi nods over to Natasha. "What about you?"

"Less itching to get back to work and more to having conversations that don't revolve around my grades and how I'm going to 'improve myself' this year," Natasha retorted wryly, rolling her eyes, although it's still said with a note of fondness. "Did you at least get to vacation somewhere fun?"

"Martha's Vineyard is nice, though it gets boring near the end of the trip," she replied casually, shrugging a shoulder, not one to divulge that much information about her family life. "Not for me, but the sun and sea were good."

"God, your dad sounds like a pain in the ass." Bobbi scoffs. "Does he not understand the concept of summer vacation?"

"I think he thinks that because he doesn't get a vacation, neither do I," Natasha confided with a wrinkle of her nose and a wry chuckle. "And he can be, I suppose. Mostly he's just really focused." She cocks her head at the mention of where Bobbi spent her summer. "Oooh, I've never been. Are there lots of vineyards?"

"Oh. No. There aren't too many vineyards there," she laughed, "but the grapes they do have are significant because they come from that island. It's a big vacation spot and there are tourists everywhere. Most people leave their cars on the mainland and take their little public transportation system. It's cute."

"So." Changing gears for a moment. "Since we have had lackluster summers, d'you know if there's anything happening after this gathering?"

[spiderette]

"Ohhh," Natasha looks sheepish. "Oops. I've never been. Then again, dad's usually pretty busy, so I don't get around a lot during the summer. It sounds like lots of fun, though. Were there beaches and stuff?"

The change of topic has her glancing around covertly for a moment before she grins and leans close. "There's rumors that there's going to be a party somewhere afterwards. I think some of the fourth years are hosting it from out of there room. Billy and Loki, probably, they seem the most likely culprits."

Bobbi didn't even bother asking if she'll be allowed to attend or not. For a second year, she still does what she wants, within reason.

"I'm definitely going," she announced with a grin. There were no intentions of really drinking on the first day back, but she did want to extend the fun before throwing herself headfirst into work.

And Natasha wouldn't dream of telling her otherwise.

"Awesome," she grins, expression bright with anticipation. "I was planning on it too. I've missed parties like burning."
