Those that sleep will awaken to a pitch black room with nothing but the faint red glow of the emergency lighting. This glow seemed to frame the ceiling of the room and gradually pulsate between a dimmer glow to a glow almost bright enough to read by then back down again. Every electronic device in the entire academy, dorms, and general building on the SHIELD grounds would display a black DOS-like screen with bright crimson lettering that read a simple, cryptic message.
Activating the new message brings up another black screen with a mostly legible message to the students of SHIELD Academy. This ominous message doesn't seem to be salvageable by even the most brilliant of computer programmers. The file is just corrupt and there is nothing that can be done for it. It's a wonder the thing opened at all, to be honest.
Those that didn't sleep would have found the lights had suddenly gone off around 0400. Shortly following the assumed harmless power outage, the usually white glowing strips lining the edges of every room would have faded to a red that indicated a warning. The red lettering on the screens would have followed after that and finally, a good ten minutes into the disquieting silence, the blue message alert appeared. They would have found their doors locked, and the windows all barred by solid adamantium panels.
There is no riddle to be had here, no teacher seems to be present to consult. The students were alone, required to rely on eachother, their own cunning, and their unique abilities.
For those poor souls trapped in the Hazard Room, well... just don't make any sudden movements. The training protocols seem to still be active. Fortunately, they are set on moderate difficulty. You had been looking to hone your skills and blow off a little steam. Well, you just got your wish.
Mod Notes: Treat this post like a mingle-log. OOC plotting can be found here.
Targets and Weaponry: SHIELD bots come in a variety of sizes from no more than a foot in height to nearly four feet and come armed with a plethora of weapons designed to subdue and capture. Weapons designed specifically to counter the abilities of those that live here, just in case they lose control.
Small built-in turrets keep hidden behind sleek panels in the ceilings of most hallways and in the ground outside. These turrets fire wide range of power nullifying munitions as well as good old fashioned taze rounds.
Targeting sensors on all the machines and turrets use facial recognition to identify each student. Their powers and weaknesses are recorded in the main SHIELD database, which it refers to and decides the best course of action.

Again, that word made him feel a bit sick and he held back a gag, pushing himself to his feet. "The Enrichment Center I , uh, attended before used Neurotoxin as a failsafe. The AI in charge corrupted and all humans not inside stasis perished. The uh, subjects in stasis survived, yup, all were perfectly healthy and woke up shortly after with little to no permanent mental defects, yes, that is the story. Don't believe anything else you hear because it isn't true."
Oh, yes, that was completely convincing and Wheatley was totally sure that the other boy didn't suspect him at all. "Since the system is locked down I assume this Jim is looking to release the Neurotoxin to protect the facility. Luckily, I know a way to stop it. I don't want to brag but I've hacked a similar system before. Piece of very real, actual cake - no lies this time."

Date: 2014-08-28 04:49 pm (UTC)Yes, very convincing. Nothing suspicious about your suspicious behaviour at all. Nope. He'll just, uh... pretend it isn't suspicious lest the suspicious weirdo try to spill his not-human blood all over the nice clean tile for calling him on his mistruths.
"Jim?" And then it dawned on Loki and it took every ounce of skill he had not to bust out with an amused cackle. "Yes, JIM, right. Just an Intelligent Mainframe. But he didn't like JAIM, so he said the A was to be silent. Y'know how those mainframes can be. So vain sometimes. Nothing like those clever Sentient Robotic Personalities. They're much more refined." It was a shot in the dark, but hey, a shot worth taking. Wheatley would either learn to lie better or Loki would just have way too much fun with this.
"I don't know if JIM has control of any neurotoxin, I think the humans of this facility learned from their mistakes, but let's plan for the worst, shall we? I could try my hand at hacking the system, but with a boast like that, I best leave it up to the professionals. I'll play defence to ensure you make it there safely and we can all partake in the very real cake when this is all over." Oh Gods he's enjoying the hell out of this little nut.

Date: 2014-08-31 11:41 pm (UTC)Ugh. Wheatley still had nightmares.
"Well then, brother, we should see to it that JIM is not given a chance to deploy the system. The cake will come in due time. All it will require is to plug me in to..."
Hmmm, that did pose a problem, didn't it? Wheatley hadn't discovered how this human body interfaced with any sort of technology. They just didn't seem to listen and all of his ports and jacks just didn't seem to do anything when he attempted to insert them into all conceivable openings. Too large and gave him quite the most unpleasant of shocks.
"RIght, well, we'll figure out how to interface with the system when the time comes. For now, JIM seems content in shooting little darts at me. I can't say I approve of these working conditions, you know. But, when a sentient AI goes psychobonkers crazy, the best you can do is shut it down and take over the facility yourself!"
He said the last little bit with a giant smile on his face. Yes, that was the best plan he'd had since, well, since he'd been shot into space. He'd done such a good job at the Enrichment Center - why not here at the school?

Date: 2014-09-14 08:34 pm (UTC)Loki just watched him, listening to his insanity. Brother, huh? He'll go with it for now. This one seemed much more gullible than even his own brother. That's sad. However, he dares not laugh when Wheatley begins talking about plugging himself into something. Wonderful.
Loki did have to agree, however, that when the system goes 'psychobonkers crazy' the best idea is to shut it down. He wasn't so keen on taking it over today, but it was a thought to keep in mind.
"Perhaps your plans for SHIELD domination should not be projected so loudly. What will you do if the AI hears you and rigs the system. Interfacing with it may cause you damage." he offered with a quirk of his eyebrow. "Or are you programmed to fight against an intruding AI hijacker?"
"And so long as you stay close, I can protect you from those little darts. Nuisances that they are." He did have to admit that this guy did have to have something going for him if the darts didn't affect him too much.
