Those that sleep will awaken to a pitch black room with nothing but the faint red glow of the emergency lighting. This glow seemed to frame the ceiling of the room and gradually pulsate between a dimmer glow to a glow almost bright enough to read by then back down again. Every electronic device in the entire academy, dorms, and general building on the SHIELD grounds would display a black DOS-like screen with bright crimson lettering that read a simple, cryptic message.
Activating the new message brings up another black screen with a mostly legible message to the students of SHIELD Academy. This ominous message doesn't seem to be salvageable by even the most brilliant of computer programmers. The file is just corrupt and there is nothing that can be done for it. It's a wonder the thing opened at all, to be honest.
Those that didn't sleep would have found the lights had suddenly gone off around 0400. Shortly following the assumed harmless power outage, the usually white glowing strips lining the edges of every room would have faded to a red that indicated a warning. The red lettering on the screens would have followed after that and finally, a good ten minutes into the disquieting silence, the blue message alert appeared. They would have found their doors locked, and the windows all barred by solid adamantium panels.
There is no riddle to be had here, no teacher seems to be present to consult. The students were alone, required to rely on eachother, their own cunning, and their unique abilities.
For those poor souls trapped in the Hazard Room, well... just don't make any sudden movements. The training protocols seem to still be active. Fortunately, they are set on moderate difficulty. You had been looking to hone your skills and blow off a little steam. Well, you just got your wish.
Mod Notes: Treat this post like a mingle-log. OOC plotting can be found here.
Targets and Weaponry: SHIELD bots come in a variety of sizes from no more than a foot in height to nearly four feet and come armed with a plethora of weapons designed to subdue and capture. Weapons designed specifically to counter the abilities of those that live here, just in case they lose control.
Small built-in turrets keep hidden behind sleek panels in the ceilings of most hallways and in the ground outside. These turrets fire wide range of power nullifying munitions as well as good old fashioned taze rounds.
Targeting sensors on all the machines and turrets use facial recognition to identify each student. Their powers and weaknesses are recorded in the main SHIELD database, which it refers to and decides the best course of action.

Billy/Loki
Date: 2014-08-23 04:47 pm (UTC)Billy/Loki
Date: 2014-08-23 05:10 pm (UTC)Loki didn't have a full view of everything around Billy, but man was it dark. Darker than the hallways and he didn't like the urgency in Billy's voice.
"You didn't get a message?" Not the time for this, Loki. He shook his head. "The whole place is possessed. Hacked, I think? Where are you? I've been trying to find you for almost an hour. I can't sit still long enough for a proper locator spell--These damn things can nullify my powers with one hit! My powers! It's safe to say the Academy has an effective weapon against me if I ever get out of hand, I guess." Except it didn't really feel right. It felt like it had Asgardian origins, but he'd keep that to himself.
His eyes narrowed on the image of Billy before him, his tone sharpened. "Kaplan, are you injured?" Because, yes, that was more important to him than the fact that someone had the technology (or magic?) to put him out of commission for an undetermined amount of time/indefinitely.
Re: Billy/Loki
Date: 2014-08-23 06:51 pm (UTC)He glanced back at Loki. "I'm ok, right now, are you ok?"
Billy/Loki
Date: 2014-08-23 07:59 pm (UTC)"They appeared nearly everywhere. On the surface of every electronic device large enough to display it." But his thoughts were truncated when Billy told him where he was. If everything was on the fritz that meant the Hazard room was probably even more dangerous than the rest of the campus. He was suddenly on very high alert.
"I'll survive." He replied hastily, because he would. Unless those things got him square in the chest with one of those energy blasts. He had no clue what they would do once he was down for the count. Kill him? Could they kill him? "That room is a bunker. I haven't a clue how to get you out--wait, yes I do." He rolled his eyes at his own idiocy. Man, this is what happened when he's turned into a rabbit running form laser-equipped blood hounds. "Do not move. ᚱᛃᛖᚱᛞᚹᚱᛒᚱ!"
His magic lurched, making the connection flicker before it crashed back into him and he hit the ground, nauseated. The magic that had enveloped his form before the spell recoiled shimmered away.
"...so much for that. Teleporting; I recommend against it. It's quite unpleasant." He shifted himself so he was sitting with his back against the wall rather than splayed about haphazardly. He'd only recently gotten a better grasp of the spell, but the Hazard room was spacious enough that he'd been confident in his arrival.
"I hear others. Who else is with you?"
Re: Billy/Loki
Date: 2014-08-23 11:49 pm (UTC)"Sif is in here, so is Cassie Lang and Bobbi Morse."
((ooc: i may have left someone out.))
Billy/Loki
Date: 2014-08-24 09:24 am (UTC)Loki leaned his head back against the wall and closed his eyes in an attempt to calm the ill feeling of his body. He remained quiet when Billy informed him of his own attempt, but his eyes popped open when he mentioned Sif.
"At least you have good company." He didn't know the other two all that well, but he knew Sif wouldn't let anything happen to them. Sif and Billy were his priorities. "Just be careful." Then he smirked lightly. "It'd be impossible for me to find another BFF." It was really the only way he could express concern for someone other than himself.

Date: 2014-08-25 07:52 pm (UTC)"Then it's fortunate that you do know better. I have no such tone." Bold. Faced. Lie. But he didn't do much more to defend his 'not concern' because he knew it would do no good. None at all.
"Kaplan, the message mentioned the computer room and rebooting the system. That should fix this. I'll head there, but I need you to do something for me first. It's imperative that you do exactly as I say, understand?"

Date: 2014-08-25 10:57 pm (UTC)Loki's dumb. Billy can punch him later.
Date: 2014-08-26 03:53 pm (UTC)Loki's expression eased a bit. "Tell me you hate me and end the conversation on that note. That will ensure you do nothing reckless, because you can't get yourself killed with the knowledge that that was the last thing you said to me."
Manipulation was in his nature, and Billy surely knew that by now. He just really didn't want anything happening to Billy.

Date: 2014-08-28 02:56 pm (UTC)"Get to the computer room and try to get us out of here."

Date: 2014-08-28 04:11 pm (UTC)Loki's grin returned. He had a feeling he'd catch hell for it later, but the fact that Billy was around to give him hell later would be well worth the hell he'd receive.
"It shall be done as you say, Master Kaplan." Loki's dramatic flourish was back in his tone. He tapped two fingers just on front of his temple and saluted his friend with the short, mock salute and dropped the call. Next stop: the computer room. Hopefully.
