SHIELD Academy
Open House
Everyone is congregated in the spacious auditorium of the SHIELD Academy. The noise level is probably a decibel below deafening and the lights are probably a little dimmer than what might seem normal for this time in the evening, but it doesn't seem to bother anyone as they just carry on. There are banners strewn about welcoming all first years to a new chapter in their lives while others welcome the others back for another year at the Academy. Refreshments are served up on stage while other tables set up around the massive room are home to pamphlets and flyers for clubs and classes. Special electives and advertisements for training sessions are also littered amongst the tables.

Make a few friends, find old ones, look into clubs that catch your interest. This is open house for all returning students and prospective students, so hang out, hit up others and just mingle!

Her empty cup's dropped with a disregard that's probably a bit unlike her, but she's too preoccupied to care as she hops up to toss her arms around his neck with a sound that's just girly enough to be embarrassing, if she'd cared.

"Oh my god, what are you doing here? I barely even recognized you!"

Of course she hadn't forgotten the date, but she'd understood. And then she'd had to move again and they'd never gotten a second chance and she'd just... been crushed, really. It had been one of the deciding factors in her father enrolling her here. He'd said he'd gotten tired of her moping around the new house after that last move and took steps to keep it from happening again.

Bucky was expecting a punch, not an exuberant embrace; he caught her as she jumped at him though, around her waist, and was surprised that he could hold her that easily.

"I-- got a letter in the mail and-- I never expected to find you here, I can't-- honestly I thought you'd just want to hit me for the last time we saw each other, or-- tried to see each other." He looked bashful.

"Nah, that whole thing was a mess anyway," she laughed, grinning up at him, because she didn't really hold a grudge and that woulda been stupid. Delighted, she leaned up and dropped an indulgent kiss on his cheek. "It was ages ago. You're forgiven for standing me up. Besides, you're here now - which is awesome, by the way - so I'm sure I'll be back to wanting to punch you in, oh, say a week or so."

Bucky blushed instantly at that kiss on his cheek, but he also burst into a grin, looking at her. She really wasn't mad at him-- really, honestly didn't hate his guts for standing her up, and clearly had no intention of actually hating him. Because really, getting punched by her wasn't terrible. It hurt like a motherfucker, sometimes, but when it hurt like that, he always deserved it.

"So-- why are you here? I didn't realize til I got here this was like-- a school for the gifted kinda thing. I sure as hell ain't gifted."

"Well apparently someone saw something about you to warrant you here," Natasha points out with a grin. "And honestly I'm not sure why I'm here either, because I don't have abilities like every one else. It's not obvious for everyone here. I think they look at things we're not aware of. I mean, I'm smart enough and ambitious enough to keep up with some, but I'm pretty average in comparison to my classmates. So don't worry, you won't stand out that much unless you want to."
