SHIELD Academy
Open House
Everyone is congregated in the spacious auditorium of the SHIELD Academy. The noise level is probably a decibel below deafening and the lights are probably a little dimmer than what might seem normal for this time in the evening, but it doesn't seem to bother anyone as they just carry on. There are banners strewn about welcoming all first years to a new chapter in their lives while others welcome the others back for another year at the Academy. Refreshments are served up on stage while other tables set up around the massive room are home to pamphlets and flyers for clubs and classes. Special electives and advertisements for training sessions are also littered amongst the tables.

Make a few friends, find old ones, look into clubs that catch your interest. This is open house for all returning students and prospective students, so hang out, hit up others and just mingle!

"Too many people for your liking, Gale Hawthorne?"

Sif had caught sight of him circling a time or two around the edges of the room while she wandered among the returning students, and she's made a point of catching up with her fellow seniors. But as she's alert and watchful in her own right, there's not much that slips past her, even when she's already had three people try to catch her up on the latest celebrity gossip and popular music.

And twerking. Whatever that was. Midgard, honestly.

"Too many people I don't know," Gale amended, "and not enough that I do."

At least he wasn't like some people who liked to whine about the freshmen, but neither did Gale go out of his way to welcome them, either. What would it matter? It's not like they would share any classes, anyway.

It's a bit of an odd answer, one that has her head tilted faintly to the side as she eyes him curiously for a moment. "Are you missing someone then?" she asks after a moment, "or just feeling overwhelmed by the crowd? I must admit, these returns always do seem so crowded compared to how everything is the rest of the year. I never know where to start."

He nodded, pointing a finger when she hit the nail on the head. "I'm not much for crowds," he admitted with a shrug. "I'd rather talk to someone on my own time than be shoved into a room with everyone all at once."

[prevalkyrie]

"Soon you will be shoved in another room, but at least with roommates it is often smaller and quieter," she counters with a crooked smile. "But I agree, it is very hard to catch up here when there is so many people and so much going on. It is very energetic, though. It is refreshing to see."

"At least I'll have the advantage of knowing them," Gale pointed out, offering Sif the barest smile in return. "I'll be glad when it cools down. Having three younger siblings at home is more than enough energy for me, let alone..." he waves his hand in a vague gesture at the entire room, "...all this."

"Do you get a long with your siblings?" Sif asked, looking curious for a moment, because Gale didn't always open up about his home, or at least he hadn't in her hearing, despite her having known him for several years now. "I always wanted a sibling or two. I have a half-brother, but he is much older, and was already grown by the time I was born. It is not the same, I think, as having playmates near your own age."
