SHIELD Academy
Open House
Everyone is congregated in the spacious auditorium of the SHIELD Academy. The noise level is probably a decibel below deafening and the lights are probably a little dimmer than what might seem normal for this time in the evening, but it doesn't seem to bother anyone as they just carry on. There are banners strewn about welcoming all first years to a new chapter in their lives while others welcome the others back for another year at the Academy. Refreshments are served up on stage while other tables set up around the massive room are home to pamphlets and flyers for clubs and classes. Special electives and advertisements for training sessions are also littered amongst the tables.

Make a few friends, find old ones, look into clubs that catch your interest. This is open house for all returning students and prospective students, so hang out, hit up others and just mingle!

Natasha returns her grin with a matching one, because yeah, she knows how this works. "Totally. I'll save you a cup."

"Oh you probably haven't even heard the half of it yet," Natasha laughs, giving him a wry grin. Considering two of her best friends were some of the most active members of that club, she's seen a lot.

If his question surprises her, she does't show it, just bobs her head in agreement with a smile. "We do, actually! There's a general music club and a drama one as well. And I'm pressuring the administration for a dance studio this year, just waiting for confirmation from them still."

Natasha wrinkles her nose and waves a hand dismissively. "No one since last year. And I wanted to start fresh anyway, so no one seriously. Besides I'm not really looking for anything serious. I like just hanging out and fooling around. Dating just seems so involved and complicated."

"Ahh, you must be one of the ones who didn't have much of a choice in getting dragged here," she comments, dropping her hand when he stares at it, crossing her arms over her chest instead, not really all that daunted by his irritation. "I'd offer my sympathies, but that'd be lying. Besides, this place isn't so bad. For a school, anyway."

Natasha laughs at that. "Oh, you've been listening to the rumors already, have you?" she asked with a grin, giving him an impish look for a moment before shaking her head. "Nah, nothing like that, unless you count the SAT's which might be worse than torture and lab experiments, according to some. Or if it is, then they've been real subtle about it," she adds, looking thoughtful as she taps her fingertip against her chin.

And Natasha wouldn't dream of telling her otherwise.

"Awesome," she grins, expression bright with anticipation. "I was planning on it too. I've missed parties like burning."

"Blake," Natasha laughs, because this is still amusing the hell out of her. "We also have America and Phil. Although I'm probably going to have my hands full trying to keep Blake from murdering him. I'm guessing they're not going to end up bff's. What about you?"

Oooh, you might stay? [ Her expression brightens at that, because she's been trying very hard not to think about the fact that most of her friends were fourth years and her time with them was limited.

She does hear his grin and returns it, tilting her head back to smirk up at him. ]

You're a lifesaver. I knew I could count on you.

It doesn't help that it's so crowded. [ Natasha agrees with a snicker, although she's still side-eyeing the giant senior with a skeptical look. Catching Jane doing the same, she gives her a conspiring look and a laugh. ] Maybe we just need to figure out a way to not be so short.

"A plan? You're a terrifying first year," Natasha laughs, looking amused by this declaration. "And I'm a third year. Iv'e been here a while."

[prevalkyrie]

"Well, many of those are offered here if you actually liked any of them," Sif points out with a smile. "There are all sorts of sports and athletics to try out, and many clubs that are as challenging for the mind as the body. It is your choice what you might like trying here. Some try a little of everything, others have one specific goal they prefer to follow wholeheartedly."

[prevalkyrie]

"Ahh, my apologies then for interrupting," Sif offers with a warm smile. "Is it a good book?"

"Honey, have you looked in a mirror?" Lydia whips out a compact, popping it open and holding it up so she flashes it on her face and then on MJ's. "This."

"That's all I can ask." Lydia says cheerfully, with regard to him at least considering Mathletes. She's not banking on him joining, but at least she had to try.

"Parties do for anyone as much as they let them do. But hey, getting in the door is half the battle." Another smile for him, and a pat on the arm if he allows it. "I'll see you there, okay? I gotta get the rest of these fliers distributed."

"The mountains sound pleasant, though! And much cooler than some places on Midgard, or so I've heard. Did you have fun? Adventures? Both?" she asked with a smile, because it sounded intriguing. She wasn't entirely sure what was involved with 'summer camp'.

"Very briefly, at the start. I spent the summer with another people, the Valkyrie. Their lands border Asgard's, but they are set apart, separate. They are fierce warriors, women, and I spent the time training with them."

[prevalkyrie]

"Soon you will be shoved in another room, but at least with roommates it is often smaller and quieter," she counters with a crooked smile. "But I agree, it is very hard to catch up here when there is so many people and so much going on. It is very energetic, though. It is refreshing to see."

"It was a lot of swimming and hiking and obstacle courses and stuff. I think it's supposed to be a retreat for agents who need a place to decompress." Max admits. "There was this lake, it was really nice. It made me think about trying out for athletics this year." She still seems hesitant, though. "I wanted to as you about that. Athletics, I mean."

However, she is promptly distracted about hearing about Asgard. The other thing she did this summer? Dug a little into copies of Hamilton and Bullfinch. "Holy crap, the Valkyrie? Really? With the winged horses and stuff?" That way way beats summer camp in the mountains. "What's a girl gotta do to get a trip to Asgard, because wow."

Little kids want to go to Disneyland and ride the teacups. Max wants to go to Asgard and spar with Valkyrie.

There is a strong possibility. [And now that he's said it, he knows he actually can't not do it, because that bright smile was just too much. Even if it isn't to join SHIELD, he'll still hang back a while.]

Always. Never doubt my ability to break school rules for fun.

"That does sound very pleasant!" Sif answered with a smile, thinking that sounded like the perfect relaxing summer. "The mountains here look very lovely, from what I have seen of them." Which hasn't been very much, so far. She hadn't traveled much outside the school.

At the mention of athletics, Sif cocks her head to the side to consider her thoughtfully. "What is it you'd like to know?"

Sif grins at Max's excitement. "Yes, those are the ones. The winged horses are necessary. Some of their training camps are on floating islands. Plus they traverse many of the realms in their travels. It grants them speed and stealth if they are above, when few think to look up. Perhaps one day you will have a chance to come visit with me."

[ She's delighted. And hugs him again. Just because. Also the constipated look he gets every time she does is still hilarious. ]

This place would be awful without my favorite Cactus, after all. What on earth would I do with all the empty hours in my day? No one else is as good at breaking rules with me. You have no idea how long it'll take me to train someone new. So much effort.

"What about you?" Felicia asked. She found herself liking this girl more and more, there was an earnestness to her Felicia wasn't used to in her fellow high schoolers, it was refreshing. "Do you do everything or are you more of a specific goals type of girl?"

Some of those things sound great to Wanda. Some of them-- not so much. She'll be skipping the library, thank you very much. the party, however...

"Oh... Are parties a-- common thing here? Is there dancing?"

Wanda tries to not let it show, but she is disappointed by the retreat of his magic. Her own follows suite, almost instinctively, until she extinguishes her hex aura all together, glancing at those who have chosen to stare around them.

"... Pietro said that we wouldn't have to hide our powers here."

He looks utterly surprised at her enthusiasm. It hasn't exactly been seen as a good thing by anyone else. Well, the people who'd brought him here had seemed interested, but not really in a way that he'd deemed friendly.

"You are too?" he asked hesitantly. "I mean... I wasn't trying to cause any damage, or even look at stuff! It was just sort of there. I think I hacked SHIELD."

"We don't," Billy promises, noticing the look on her face. He lets a small blue glow return to his hand to prove his point. "I just don't now what mixing our magic will do, and I've been know to blow things up accidentally from time to time. I'd rather not blow the auditorium up on our first day back." He grinned at Wanda. "We are definitely going to explore this more though."
