[Event] If you want to get out alive...

Those that sleep will awaken to a pitch black room with nothing but the faint red glow of the emergency lighting. This glow seemed to frame the ceiling of the room and gradually pulsate between a dimmer glow to a glow almost bright enough to read by then back down again. Every electronic device in the entire academy, dorms, and general building on the SHIELD grounds would display a black DOS-like screen with bright crimson lettering that read a simple, cryptic message.

SYSTEM ERROR
LOCKDOWN MODE INITIALISED

NEW MESSAGE

Activating the new message brings up another black screen with a mostly legible message to the students of SHIELD Academy. This ominous message doesn't seem to be salvageable by even the most brilliant of computer programmers. The file is just corrupt and there is nothing that can be done for it. It's a wonder the thing opened at all, to be honest.

Those that didn't sleep would have found the lights had suddenly gone off around 0400. Shortly following the assumed harmless power outage, the usually white glowing strips lining the edges of every room would have faded to a red that indicated a warning. The red lettering on the screens would have followed after that and finally, a good ten minutes into the disquieting silence, the blue message alert appeared. They would have found their doors locked, and the windows all barred by solid adamantium panels.

There is no riddle to be had here, no teacher seems to be present to consult. The students were alone, required to rely on eachother, their own cunning, and their unique abilities.

For those poor souls trapped in the Hazard Room, well... just don't make any sudden movements. The training protocols seem to still be active. Fortunately, they are set on moderate difficulty. You had been looking to hone your skills and blow off a little steam. Well, you just got your wish.

Mod Notes: Treat this post like a mingle-log. OOC plotting can be found here.

Targets and Weaponry: SHIELD bots come in a variety of sizes from no more than a foot in height to nearly four feet and come armed with a plethora of weapons designed to subdue and capture. Weapons designed specifically to counter the abilities of those that live here, just in case they lose control.

Small built-in turrets keep hidden behind sleek panels in the ceilings of most hallways and in the ground outside. These turrets fire wide range of power nullifying munitions as well as good old fashioned taze rounds.

Targeting sensors on all the machines and turrets use facial recognition to identify each student. Their powers and weaknesses are recorded in the main SHIELD database, which it refers to and decides the best course of action.

Scott was able to hear most of the turrets as they activated and kept an ear out for their gunfire. It was a blessing and a curse. He could locate other students via the turret fire, but if one activated near him and fired, it was nearly deafening to him. The odd sound he'd heard from the turret earlier had been a most unpleasant experience. Had it been a malfunction?

But then, when she spoke and her lips didn't move, he wondered if maybe he'd lost his mind. Her explanation followed and suddenly the sound made sense. It was somewhat surreal.

"All the front doors and exits are locked too, I noticed. Wow that's awesome, though. The sound thing, I mean. Not the SHIELD-ocalypse. Man, and I thought my hearing was good. That's crazy sharp hearing if you could hear stuff inside, too." He half smiled, because this was not the time to be geeking out over her powers. "I'm Scott. I'm... a werewolf." He still wasn't used to admitting that to people.

"That explains the eyes, and the heart rate," Maya pulled off her headphones and put them around her neck. They didn't work right now, nor did her phone. There was some other energy field she could hear running. It was projecting from various points on campus. "SHIELD-ocalypse is out to get us. That drone spotted me and immediately started jamming my powers, and there's a low level field taking out the electronics. Which is going to become a problem."

She was still looking like something was wrong, probably why she was creating sounds to talk with instead of speaking properly. "I can't turn it off. It's a lot to take in, hearing everything. ...and we're about to have two more drones activate."

"My heart rate's different?" He asked, instinctively bringing a hand to his own chest. It felt steady to him. But maybe that was the point. Hadn't he just run a small marathon? But when she continued 'speaking' he looked up and listened.

"Yeah, I heard that." He just nodded at the new information. It wasn't really much that he could help with right now. Whatever was sending out the jamming signal would probably be a little harder to get at than the drones. "Think you can find it?" Because if she could find it, maybe he could break it.

But her next words caught his attention and put him on alert. "Point me in their direction." His eyes took on that golden glow again as he tapped into his werewolf sight, cutting through the darkness with ease. "Or would we be better off running?"

"From a human one, yes." She wasn't going to get into the details of it, which started with what he'd already twigged onto. There were other things on that level of small subtle differences that Maya just knew but this wasn't the time for any of it.

"There's a lot going on here, it's hard to figure out what's connected to which problem." Maya shut her eyes to try and put a bit more focus on the various sounds the school was making. Main power was out, but on the back-ups there seemed to be a half dozen various devices making networks of projectors buzz while various fields were online. "Too far, I need to get closer to the school."

Maya put her mind on the two drones, they were activating but not yet targeted. So if there were any time to run, it'd be now, "We run. I don't think we can really waste time out here fighting them off. And I'm in no shape to fight."

Maya's powers pretty much had her as a good tool in a fight, but a terrible fighter. She was too stretched out with everything going on. She could hear various things going on around campus and they were taxing her. She was glad she wasn't in the Hazard Room, that would be a problem right now.
