[Mingle-Log] Only non-alcoholic beverages in the punch bowl...

Open House
Everyone is congregated in the spacious auditorium of the SHIELD Academy. The noise level is probably a decibel below deafening and the lights are probably a little dimmer than what might seem normal for this time in the evening, but it doesn't seem to bother anyone as they just carry on. There are banners strewn about welcoming all first years to a new chapter in their lives while others welcome the others back for another year at the Academy. Refreshments are served up on stage while other tables set up around the massive room are home to pamphlets and flyers for clubs and classes. Special electives and advertisements for training sessions are also littered amongst the tables.
Make a few friends, find old ones, look into clubs that catch your interest. This is open house for all returning students and prospective students, so hang out, hit up others and just mingle!
Felicity Smoak --> Arrow
Quickly, she descends on the snack table looking for coffee and praying that the music won't last forever. It's not really her favorite type and she'd like to be able to hear people coming up behind her if anyone decided freshmen hazing was the way to spend their evening.

A hot pink flyer for Mathletes is suddenly thrust into Felicity's view. Follow the arm all the way to the petite young woman in the designer minidress and heels smiling her way.
"We've got openings, though the competition is pretty fierce. Unless Science Club is more your speed?" The hot pink flyer is put back in her little stack, and a teal flyer offered instead.

Felicity's mouth gets away from her like usual as she adjusts her glasses and looks down at the poster. Her face is nothing but wary as she looks at Lydia from head to toe. She's been pushed around by the beauty queen daughters of Vegas vacationers all her life and she's not about to let another girl like them make her first day at her new school hell.
"There isn't a hacking or computer security club is there? Because that would be my first choice, but mathletes works too."

Her eyes alight, "You know, the ponytail works, but you need the right earrings." Her tone is assessing, but it could be mistaken for catty.

"I know. I didn't think I'd walk off my plane and into a welcome party. I thought open house was like 'grab your key and unpack your stuff'. If I'd know I was going to something like this I would have figured out how to smuggle my curling iron or straightener into my carry-on. I lose things a lot--so I just packed my jewelry to be sure it all made it here--And you probably don't care. Sorry."
First person she meets, and already she's babbling.

She makes a vague gesture around Felicity as if to encompass all this. You're okay, really. If you had a chance I'd say dash up to your room and maybe pull out a pair that have a bit of dangle to them? But they really like to try and make you jump unexpectedly around here. To make us sharper." She flashes a smile. "You'll get used to it."

Of course, between alcohol and crowds, it's very easy to accidentally elbow someone in the side as he's reaching for something on the table.
"Shit. Sorry! Are you okay?"
no subject
"Yeah--I'm fine. I've had worse, no problem." Hot coffee down her front while covering one of her mom's shifts was definitely worse than this.

"Still not the best start to a meeting, though. Are you new to all this too?"
